The Old Green House is a unique historic venue located near Cathedral Square. In 1913, the renowned Lithuanian writer J. Žymantienė–Žemaitė lived in this house. Later, it became a museum, but after the museum closed, the building was left abandoned for many years.
In 2011, the house underwent a complete restoration. Its façade was carefully reconstructed using archival photographs, and the original early-20th-century shutters were restored. The interior features historic tables dating back to the era of Antanas Smetona, while the walls are adorned with reproductions of wallpaper from the Queen of Denmark’s bedroom and authentic photographs from the 19th and 20th centuries.
A standout feature of the ground floor is the oak bar, which incorporates a 17th-century stained-glass window. Together with the fireplace and the music of a bygone era, it creates a warm, inviting atmosphere that reflects the building’s rich historical character.
